Transfiguration: An Electronic Audio and Visual Installation by Chris Daubert (Oct 16-Jan 8, 2011)

Inspired by the astronomical and mystical functions of the Temple of Chalchihuites in the northern desert of Durango, Mexico, Daubert has created a multi-part installation featuring motion sensors that feed a moving soundscape across one wall and activate a ghostly abstracted image for viewers to interpret deeper in the gallery. Two lectures will accompany this exhibit - click here for details.

A Mile of Tape

Interactive Installation by Danny Sheible

“A Mile of Tape” is a contemporary take off on the 1942 "Mile of String" created by Marcel Duchamp, whose insightful probing of the boundaries of art continues to resonate with artists generations later.

Danny Scheible’s installation at the Blue Line Gallery consists entirely of tape donated by the 3M company. It includes an interactive opportunity for visitors to help install a mile of ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape meandering across the gallery walls, floor and ceiling, as well as a large masking tape installation sculpted by Scheible.

"Visitors to the Blue Line will be invited to create their own experiences and add their own unique voices to the installation," says Scheible.

The artist will demonstrate different sculptural uses for masking tape at the Blue Line Gallery every Tuesday in July during Downtown Tuesday Nights, 5-8pm and July 17, 10am-5pm.

Roseville Arts' Juried Membership Show features the work of 50 artists selected by jurors Pamela Skinner and Gwenna Howard.

A variety of 2- and 3-dimensional media is represented in the exhibit, including works in photography, painting, mixed media and metals. The featured artists come from as far away as South Lake Tahoe, Davis and El Dorado Hills and will all be considered for $1000 in cash awards. While awards are not new to Roseville Arts' previous 37 annual membership shows, this is the first time members' work has had to be juried into the annual exhibit.

"We were very honored to be chosen as the jurors for your first juried membership show," said Pamela Skinner, who with Gwenna Howard owns and manages the Pamela Skinner/Gwenna Howard/Contemporary Art Gallery in Sacramento.  "We concentrated on the image in front of us and approached the judging very methodically.  We looked very closely at what we thought the artist tried to accomplish and how successful they were in this effort."
