Juror: Christy Johnson  
Christy Johnson is currently Director of the American Museum of Ceramic Art, located in Pomona. Following the receipt of a BA in English Literature from  California State University Los Angeles, Johnson switched her emphasis to art and ceramic studies, most notably at Otis Art Institute under Ralph Bacerra and at Pasadena City College with Phil Cornelius. Her credits include a lengthy ceramic career, with many exhibitions and awards throughout the Southland. After twenty years in the ceramic field, Johnson gradually shifted her interest to producing and curating art exhibitions. In 2004, several months before AMOCA's inaugural exhibition, Johnson joined the museum. Today Johnson oversees museum administration; facilitates AMOCA's diverse, five-exhibition-a-year schedule; directs the ceramic education program; and guides management of the permanent col

Entering the Show                                              
 

Eligibility:

  • Open to all artists, minimum age 18.
  • Open to original ceramic art only.
  • Work cannot have been exhibited previously at the Blue Line Gallery.
  • All Plates Must Hang on walls!
  • Plates must have integral wire to hang directly and securely on the wall--no plate hangers.
  • Totems must be stable to sit directly on the floor (no pedestals).
  • Size limitations – Plates should be no larger than 24” diameter. Totems may be up to 10 feet tall and must be able to enter through doors with clear entry of 94 h x 91 w inches.

Submitting Entries:

  • Up to 3 entries for $35 ($30 gallery members); $5 each additional entry.  
  • Enter Online at http://rosevillearts.org/exhibits/calls.html Select “Call to Artists” in drop-down menu under “Exhibits.” Follow instructions above gray box to create a log-in.  Access step-by-step PDF instructions.
    Then Select “Totems & Plates” in list of exhibits to enter your information, load images and pay your fee before midnight, March 24th 2012.
  • NOTE image specifications: JPG only; sized at 500KB-3 MB; min image width 500 pixels.

 

Shipping: Shipping is the responsibility of the artist. Work must arrive at the Blue Line Gallery no later than 5pm on April 14, 2011. Return shipping label should be included with shipped work.

Sales:  The Blue Line Gallery handles all sales and retains 40% commission for member artists, 50% for non-members. Membership information is available at www.rosevillearts.org.
