History

The Roseville Arts! Formerly known as Roseville Arts Center (RAC) was founded in 1963 and incorporated as Roseville Community Projects, Inc. in 1966.  In its 40+ years existence, RAC has demonstrated a history of success both in fulfilling its mission and ability to financially sustain that mission: “Creating a vibrant community through the arts.”

1974 Purchase of the Victorian Haman House – raised $50,000 from community to restore for use as main gallery classroom and space to hold community events.

1976 Haman House was restored completely by volunteer labor and community donations.  Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

1987 $60,000 was raised in 60 days through community donations for purchase of adjacent property to complete the June Wanish Performing Arts Pavilion and Haman House Garden.

1990 Performing Arts Pavilion & Garden was completed through community in-kind donations.

1992 Redevelopment loan and grants provided funding to complete upgrades and repairs to Haman House.

1994 The renovation received Revitalization Award from the Roseville Chamber of Commerce. RAC was also designated Lead Agency for Tower Theatre Renovation by Roseville City Council.

1997 RAC held a gala community party celebrating the official grand opening of the Tower’s Phase 1, “The Lobby Gallery & Gathering Space”.  The Tower Gallery hosted national and countywide exhibitions, student exhibitions, opera films, music performances, Downtown Tuesday Night events, and many more.

2001 Funds from Westfield Galleria Children’s Tile Wall Project in collaboration with The United Way utilized to convert the Haman House first floor into a professional gallery for the display of children’s art.

2002 RAC negotiated lease of former City office building and converted to “405 Gallery”.

2003 RAC partnered with City of Roseville and area developer to create 5,500 sq. ft. arts facility within future city parking structure at 405 Gallery site. Established a long term lease and committed to capital campaign to raise $500,000 for tenant improvements.

2003 RAC Sold Haman House property and designated a portion of funds to RAC endowment to ensure future operational stability.

2003-2005 Operations were temporarily relocated to 405 Gallery and name of the organization officially changed to “Roseville Arts!”

2005  405 Gallery was demolished to make way for city parking structure and future RA Blue Line Gallery.

2005-2008  RA formed alliance with NEC Electronics America, who provided office space for temporary relocation of staff. RA took exhibits on the road under name "Roseville Arts! @ ... " Exhibits and programs continued throughout region.

2008 Capital campaign surpassed its goal. Blue Line Gallery provides three times the organization’s original space, increasing programming capability proportionately. The Blue Line Gallery opens February.
