ANNA E ROLIN

Artist’s Statement

Painting and drawing (creating of any kind) grounds me and I'd probably go insane without my art.  When I am working on a painting I feel calm, centered and balanced and at the same time energized.

Nature, other artists ,  all my surroundings are constant inspirations.

I love intense dramatic colors and how they sometimes pop against each other.
I also love pattern and detail.  l have been drawing my "swirl" shapes all my life.  Growing up in San Francisco during the psychedelic sixties, I’m sure that made an impression on me.  My shapes, to me, they feel sensual and/or emotional.  These shapes weave in and out  and away.  People are  sometimes like that.  Some are with you through out life and some hang out, stick right next to you, always around you then with some drama, they leave.  I try to show rhythm, motion, and joy in my paintings.
